2024 Reflections: Letting Go and Moving Forward

As 2024 comes to a close, it's the perfect time to pause and reflect. Life moves fast,
and it’s easy to carry baggage that no longer serves us. But December offers an
opportunity to let go, make peace, and step into the new year with clarity and intention.
Pause and Reflect
Before jumping into plans for 2025, take a moment to reflect on the past year.
Ask yourself:
- What went well?
- What didn’t?
- What lessons did I learn?
- What can I let go of that no longer serves me? Reflection isn’t always about dwelling on mistakes but acknowledging growth.
Even the hard moments can shape us into stronger versions of ourselves.
For me, one of the most significant lessons came from my journey to pursue higher
education. With the help and encouragement from close family and friends, I decided to
take the necessary steps to get information on going to college.
For years, I held the heavy belief that I wasn't smart enough to go back to school.
I let thoughts swirl in my mind: “I don’t have the money for college courses, I don’t
even know what I want to do, and I’ll probably fail anyway.” Each step of this journey
wasn’t easy. It felt like I was going through muck; some parts felt like I was dying to
myself. I had to let go of old dreams and desires to make room for new ones. This
negative mindset felt like a weight I couldn't shake, and it kept me stuck.

Letting Go of What No Longer Serves You
Carrying what doesn’t serve you—whether it’s toxic relationships, limiting beliefs, or
unrealistic expectations—only weighs you down. Identifying those beliefs was the first
step. I realized that the notion that I wasn’t smart enough was a limiting belief I’d picked
up somewhere along the way, and it only held me back. Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve
chosen to release that belief. I affirmed to myself, “I am capable of learning and growing.
I release the fear of failure with gratitude—it no longer serves me.”
The Power of Gratitude
Gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to what we have. Reflecting on my journey,
I wrote down five things I was grateful for this year—small victories like finally enrolling
in a course, taking that brave step toward my future, achieving a running goal, accomplishing
a weight-lifting goal, and starting this blog. Gratitude helped me move forward with a
lighter, more positive heart.
Set Intentions, Not Resolutions
Instead of rigid resolutions, set intentions for 2025. I focused on how I wanted to feel
and the values I wanted to embrace. This year, one of my intentions was about courage
—finding the courage to step out of my comfort zone and pursue my dreams without fear of failure.
Intentions guide your path without the pressure of perfection.
Bless and Release
Letting go is not always easy, but it’s necessary for growth. Bless what you’re
releasing—thank it for the role it played, even if it was painful. For me, I blessed
the doubt I once held. I acknowledged how those feelings shaped my perspective.
Then, I let them go. Creating a release ceremony helped me visualize this shift; I literally
wrote down my fears, prayed, released them to God, and tore up my paper as
symbolizing my decision to move forward.
Moving Into 2025
As the clock strikes midnight, take a deep breath and remind yourself:
- You are capable of growth.
- You deserve peace and happiness.
- You are free to create the life you envision.

Here’s to a new year filled with clarity, gratitude, and intention. Let’s move forward
lighter and stronger together. 💕 What’s one thing you’re letting go of before 2025?
